EPS
market of Germany, Middle Europe, and North European countries.
It was around 1950 when BASF invented EPS under the trademark STYROPOR and the production of EPS in Schkopau was one of the biggest responsibilities of Schkopau industrial park. First trials ran in 1957 with laboratory equipment and in 1959 runs were made in a pilot reactor.
The first EPS plant run from 1968 to 1997. The maximum capacity was progressively increased.In that time, the current trademark Sconapor™ was developed.
In the early 90’s a decision for a new EPS production plant was taken. The startup of the new plant was in 1996.
In 2000 Dow Chemicals company took over Schkopau industrial park where EPS production is located.
In 2010 Dow spun off the whole styrene monomer plant and styrene consumer plant and it was the year that Styron was founded.
On the 1 st of October 2013 the EPS plant (the only one of Styron) in Schkopau was sold to Ravago Group. The plant was integrated in Ravago under the legal entity RP Compounds GmbH.
Ravapor GmbH.
For several business reasons, the EPS plant was spun off again and on the 6 th of September 2017 it became a separate legal entity under the name of Ravapor GmbH.
Nowadays, Ravapor GmbH has quite a strong position on the EPS market of Germany, Middle Europe, and North European countries. As a result, its nominal capacity today has increased significantly. Ravapor GmbH headquarters are located also in the industrial zone of Schkopau.
